The Huntland High School Lady Hornets beat the Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers 83-45 at home Tuesday for their second win of the season.
The Lady Hornets hit 11 3-pointers in the game to build a massive lead that could not be surmounted as they picked up the victory.
The Lady Hornets set the tone for the contest with 28 points in the opening quarter as they hit five 3-pointers for the period.
They led 28-14 after one quarter.
The Lady Hornets started the second quarter with a 25-3 run as they began to transform the game into a blowout.
They led 50-27 at halftime.
The Lady Tigers continued to have no answer for the Lady Hornets’ hot shooting in the second half with Huntland adding another 15 points to its lead.
The Lady Hornets led 75-37 going into the final period.
The Lady Hornets slowed down their offense in the fourth quarter, and a running clock brought a quicker end to the game as the Lady Hornets won by 38 points.
Ashtyn Danley led the Lady Hornets with 18 points for the game, followed by Mikaylie Edwards with 14 points and Anna Stevenson and Brooklyn Morris with 11 points each.
Megan Tipps scored nine points, Logan McLennan scored five, Camille Bland scored four, and Maddux Golden and Diamond Tate scored two points each.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 2-2 on the season.
They will next play Friday against Livingston Academy at Woodbury Grammar School in a game for the Mitch Wilson State Farm Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
