The Huntland High School Lady Hornets beat the Valor Collegiate Academy Lady Wildcats 71-16 at home Friday in a quarterfinal game for their regional tournament.

The Lady Hornets dominated on both ends of the court for the entire game as they easily advanced to the next round of the bracket.

The Lady Hornets scored the first 16 points of the game to set the tone for the rest of the day.

They led 22-1 after one quarter.

The Lady Hornets hit five 3-pointers in the second quarter as part of a 26-point period to bring their lead up to more than 40 points before halftime.

They led 48-6 at the end of the first half.

The Lady Hornets maintained their massive advantage throughout the third quarter as they completely outmatched the Lady Wildcats.

They led 67-11 going into the final period.

A running clock in the fourth quarter would bring a quicker end to the game as the Lady Hornets won by 55 points.

Anna Stevenson led the Lady Hornets with 16 points for the game, followed by Kami Riley with 12 points and Ashtyn Danley with nine.

Brooklyn Morris and Aysia Williams scored seven points each, Jocy May scored six points, Logan McLennan and Bailey Morris scored four points each, and Maddux Golden, Tori Schultz and Dara Jernigan scored two points each.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 17-4 on the season.

They will next play Monday at home against Moore County High School in a semifinal game for their regional tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
