Rick Orzino recently represented Franklin County in the Tennessee Senior Olympics State Finals and came away with a bronze medal in the 5K time trial for cycling.
The state Senior Olympics were held from June 21-27 in Williamson County with the cycling event for Orzino being held on June 22 in the town of Arrington.
The 74-year-old Orzino took on 26 of the best senior cyclists in the state with ages ranging from 50-85, and he was able to finish third in the Male 70-74 division with a time of 9:57.71.
Orzino finished 14th in the overall standings for the event.
In addition to bringing home a bronze medal for his efforts, Orzino's performance also qualified him for a berth in the 2021 National Senior Olympics to be held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Orzino also recently competed in the Mach Tenn Triathlon held annually at Arnold Air Force Base where he finished first in the Aquabike competition.
The Aquabike competition consists of a 0.6-mile swim followed by a 16-mile bike ride. Orzino finished the event with a time of 1:20:05, putting him 54 seconds ahead of Jason Hardin for first place.
