First place

The cross country teams of Franklin County High School and Huntland High School competed in the Eagles Nest meet Friday at Arrowhead Ranch in Normandy.

The Rebelettes won the girls portion of the meet as they had three runners finish in the top 10.

Kara McDaniel led the way for Franklin County as she finished second overall for the day with a time of 23:17.

Teammate Erin Worthington was the next runner to cross the finish line as she finished third with a mark of 23:49.

Zulema Martinez was the third Franklin County runner to crack the top 10 as she finished sixth with a time of 24:56.

Nora Daugherty placed 15th for the day with a mark of 26:59, and Addy Hannaway finished 31st with a time of 30:33 to round out the placements for the Rebelettes.

The Lady Hornets finished third in the team standings as they had five runners place in the top 20 of the girls race.

Megan Tipps and Logan McLennan finished within seconds of each other in 11th and 12th place, respectively, with times of 26:33 and 26:36.

Anna Stevenson finished in 16th place for the day with a mark of 27:17 while Kami Riley came in close behind her with a time of 27:25 to finish 17th.

Jocy May rounded out the top-20 placements for the Lady Hornets by finishing 20th overall with a mark of 27:51.

The remaining runners for the Lady Hornets and their times and placements for the day were Harley Gulley, 24th, 29:08; and Aysia Williams, 32nd, 31:00.

In the boys portion of the meet, the Rebels had four runners finish in the top 20.

Teammates Braden Collins and Jayden Taylor finished with consecutive placements in 13th and 14th, respectively with times of 21:33 and 21:35.

Owen Stewart was able to finish 18th for the meet with a time of 21:41 for the day. He was followed closely by Daniel Heath in 19th with a mark of 21:44.

The remaining runners for the Rebels and their times and placements for the day were John Barnhill, 29th, 23:03; and Xander Brammer, 30th, 23:20.

The top runner for the Hornets on the day would be Pedro Garcia in 16th place with a time of 21:40.

The next three Huntland runners would finish in quick succession later in the race as Iseal Martinez, Blake Thompson and Ethan Sons finished with marks of 24:48, 25:10 and 25:16, respectively, to take 38th, 39th and 40th.

Will Jolley finished in 53rd place with a time of 29:04 to end the day for the Hornets.

The teams of FCHS and Huntland will next run on Tuesday in the Cascade Invitational at Arrowhead Ranch. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
