The boys and girls cross country teams of Franklin County and Huntland high schools competed in a meet Saturday at Winchester City Park.
Each of the local teams received accolades at the event as Franklin County’s Aydan Yates and Kara McDaniel finished first in their respective races, and the Huntland Lady Hornets picked up a team victory in the girls race with six runners placing in the top 20.
McDaniel took the top spot in the girls race with a time of 22:19 for the meet.
The next Franklin County runner across the finish line was Zulema Martinez in seventh place with a time of 25:03.
Nora Daugherty rounded out the top-10 placements for the Rebelettes as she finished 10th for the day with a mark of 25:39.
The Lady Hornets were led for the day by Logan McLennan, who finished in eighth place with a time of 25:22.
Kami Riley, Anna Stevenson and Megan Tipps crossed the finish line with times of 25:59, 26:29 and 26:37 to take 12th, 13th and 14th place, respectively.
Jocy May and Harley Gulley also finished in close promixity to each other with marks of 27:08 and 27:09, respectively, to finish 18th and 19th.
The remaining runners for the Rebelettes and their placements and times for the day were Addy Hannaway, 29th, 29:46; Bella Paul Hartwig, 41st, 34:19; and Audrey Everson, 44th.
The remaining runners for the Lady Hornets and their placements and times for the day were Judah Hill, 31st, 31:16; Morgan Sanders, 32nd, 31:59; and Maddux Golden, 40th, 34:16.
First place in the boys race went to Yates as he completed the course with a time of 17:25.
Jayden Taylor also cracked the top 10 as he was able to finish seventh with a mark of 20:14.
The Rebels had three more runners make it into the top 20 as Braden Collins finished 11th with a time of 20:34, Daniel Heath placed 14th with a mark of 20:42 and Owen Stewart finished 19th with a time of 21:12.
The Hornets had just three runners in competition for the day with the top time for the team on the day belonging to Pedro Garcia. Garcia finished 12th for the meet with a mark of 20:37.
The remaining runners for the Rebels and their placements and times for the day were John Barnhill, 30th, 22:46; Xander Brammer, 45th, 25:03; Sam Saylor, 52nd, 26:26; Cristian Fravel, 55th, 26:44; and Caleb Cashion, 60th, 30:21.
The remaining runners for the Hornets and their placements and times for the day were Blake Thompson, 40th, 24:36; and Dalton Howell, 44th, 25:01.
The Hornets and Lady Hornets will next compete on Sept. 19 in the Webb School Invitational at The Webb School. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:25 a.m.
The Rebels and Rebelettes will next run on Sept. 22 in a meet at Don Davidson Park in Fayetteville. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
