The Huntland Middle School Hornets beat the Flintville Bobcats 44-0 at home Thursday for their fourth win of the season.

The Hornets scored early and often as they routed the Bobcats to bring their record for the year back above .500.

Huntland head football coach Mike Jernigan said his team had a good week of practice, and the results on the field reflected that.

Tyrese Stovall led the offensive charge as he had a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown.

Coastlon Ringer, BJ Summers, Britton Wiggs, Tyler Archer and Jed Ashley each added rushing touchdowns.

Grant Jernigan threw a touchdown pass in the contest.

The Hornets had four successful two-point conversions for the day with Jernigan scoring two and Stovall and Archer scoring one each.

The Hornets’ defense shut down Flintville throughout the contest with 10 tackles for a loss on the day.

The Hornets scored 38 points in the first half and then added one more touchdown to round out the scoring in the second half.

The big lead in the second half allowed the Hornets to cycle all of their players into the game to get playing experience.

With the win, the Hornets improved to 4-3 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at Cornersville Middle School. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
