The Huntland Middle School Hornets beat the Liberty Patriots 47-41 on the road Thursday for their fourth win of the season.
The Hornets rallied from a slight deficit in the final quarter to pick up a road victory and to keep their record for the year above .500.
The Hornets got off to a strong start on offense as they were able to build up an early advantage on the scoreboard.
They led 15-7 after one quarter.
However, the Patriots rallied back to tie the game up before the end of the first half.
The game was tied at 24-24 at halftime.
The Hornets struggled offensively in the third quarter as they hit just one shot from the field. This allowed the Patriots to claim a narrow lead.
The Hornets trailed 33-30 going into the final period.
The Hornets found their offensive footing once again in the fourth quarter as they put together their highest-scoring period of the day to push past the Patriots and win by six.
Trace Kilpatrick led the Hornets with 14 points for the game, followed by Zeier Golden with 13 points and Tyrese Stovall with 11.
DaShuan Reynolds scored six points and Daltyn Howell scored three.
With the win, the Hornets improved to 4-2 on the season.
They will next play Monday at home against Flintville Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
