The Huntland Middle School Hornets beat the Unity Middle School Lions 46-24 at home Monday for their seventh win of the season.

The Hornets outscored their opponent in every quarter as they steadily pulled away to secure the victory.

The Hornets got their offense going in the opening quarter as they built a decent lead early.

They led 14-6 after one quarter.

The Lions didn’t let Huntland fully pull away in the second quarter, but the Hornets did increase the lead to double digits.

They led 24-13 at halftime.

The lead continued to grow for the Hornets in the third quarter as the Lions were not able to do much to stop them.

The Hornets led 38-19 going into the final period.

The Hornets slowed down their offense in the fourth quarter as they finished off the 22-point win.

Trace Kilpatrick led the Hornets with 16 points for the game, followed by Ethan Sons with nine points and Daltyn Howell and Zeier Golden with eight points each.

DaShuan Reynolds scored five points.

With the win, the Hornets improved to 7-4 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at home against Blanche Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
