The Huntland Middle School Lady Hornets beat the Liberty Lady Patriots 59-15 on the road Thursday for their eighth win of the season.

The Lady Hornets withstood an early offensive surge from the Lady Patriots and dominated the remainder of the contest to claim a road victory.

The Lady Patiots scored almost all of their points in the first quarter as the Lady Hornets were behind early.

They trailed 13-11 after one quarter.

However, the Lady Hornets didn’t allow any points in the second quarter while dropping 17 on the offensive end to take control of the game.

They led 28-13 at halftime.

The Lady Patriots had another scoreless frame in the third quarter as the Lady Hornets added another 19 points to their lead to put the game further out of reach.

They led 47-13 going into the final period.

The Lady Hornets added another 10 points to their lead to wrap up the dominant performance as they won by 44 points.

Aysia Williams led the Lady Hornets with 14 points for the game, followed by Bailey Morris with 12 points and TaTianna Stovall with 10.

Hazel Reed scored eight points, Morgan Sanders and Jocy May scored five points each, Riley Maxwell and Yareli Avalos scored two points each, and Maddie Burks scored one point.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 8-1 on the season.

They will next play Monday at home against Flintville Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
