The Huntland Middle School Lady Hornets beat the Unity Lady Lions 56-23 on the road Thursday for their 10th win of the season.

The Lady Hornets did all of the scoring that they needed in the first half as they cruised from there to remain undefeated on the season.

The Lady Hornets opened the game with their strongest offensive quarter of the day as they quickly built a double-digit lead.

They led 20-5 after one quarter.

The lead grew to more than 20 points in the second quarter as the Lady Hornets continued to outpace the Lady Lions.

Huntland led 33-12 at halftime.

The Lady Lions played a more even game in the third quarter, but the Lady Hornets remained in complete control. Kinsley Grace scored six of Huntland’s nine points in the third quarter.

They led 42-22 going into the final period.

The Lady Hornets allowed just one point in the fourth quarter as they pulled away to win by 33.

Grace led the Lady Hornets with 15 points for the game, followed by TaTianna Stovall with 14 points and Maddie Burks with nine.

Hazel Reed and Morgan Sanders scored six points each, Marley Phillips scored four and Jacey Riley scored two.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 10-0 on the season.

They will next play Monday at home against South Lincoln Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
