The Huntland Middle School Lady Hornets beat the Highland Rim Lady Hornets 38-34 on the road Monday for their 14th win of the season.

The Huntland Lady Hornets built an early advantage and held off a rally in the second half to pick up a road victory.

The Huntland Lady Hornets had their most offensive success in the opening quarter, which allowed them to create an early deficit.

They led 15-8 after one quarter.

Highland Rim began to slow down Huntland in the second quarter to keep the score relatively close early on.

Huntland led 21-15 at halftime.

The Highland Rim Lady Hornets cut the deficit down to just two points late in the third quarter as Huntland led 27-25 going into the final period.

However, the Huntland Lady Hornets got their offense going again in the fourth quarter as they held on to win by four points.

TaTianna Stovall led the Lady Hornets with 16 points for the game, followed by Bailey Morris and Aysia Williams with eight points each.

Morgan Sanders scored three points, Jocy May scored two and Hazel Reed scored one.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 14-2 on the season.

They will next play Tuesday at home against Liberty Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
