The Huntland Middle School Lady Hornets beat the Highland Rim Lady Hornets 58-30 at home Tuesday for their seventh win of the season.

The hosting Lady Hornets built a large early lead and maintained it from there to pick up a blowout victory.

The Huntland girls ended the first quarter on a 17-0 run to push the lead to 20 points very early in the contest.

They led 24-4 after one quarter.

Highland Rim did much more scoring in the second quarter, but the Huntland players maintained their edge for the remainder of the half.

They led 34-15 at halftime.

The Huntland Lady Hornets caught fire from beyond the arc in the third quarter as they sank four 3-pointers to extend their lead.

They led 50-22 entering the final period.

Huntland did not give up any ground in the final period as the Lady Hornets picked up the victory by 28 points.

TaTianna Stovall led the Lady Hornets with 20 points for the game, followed by Bailey Morris and Morgan Sanders with 11 points each.

Hazel Reed scored eight points, Aysia Williams scored six and Maddie Burks scored three.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 7-1 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at Liberty Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
