The Huntland Middle School Lady Hornets beat the Unity Lady Lions 54-26 at home Monday for their 12th win of the season.

The Lady Lions kept the score close in the first half, but the Lady Hornets dominated the second half to pick up a blowout victory.

The Lady Hornets jumped out to an early advantage with the Lady Lions remaining a few possessions behind.

The Lady Hornets led 14-8 after one quarter.

The Lady Lions successfully slowed down Huntland’s offense in the second quarter with the score remaining relatively close.

The Lady Hornets led 21-14 at halftime.

The Lady Hornets got their offense back on track in the third quarter as they doubled their lead over Unity.

They led 39-24 going into the final period.

The Lady Hornets allowed just two points in the fourth quarter while scoring 15 of their own to transform the contest into a blowout as they won by 28.

TaTianna Stovall led the Lady Hornets with 14 points for the game, followed by Aysia Williams with 12 points and Morgan Sanders with nine.

Hazel Reed scored seven points, Bailey Morris scored six, and Yareli Avalos, Jocy May and Maddie Burks scored two points each.

With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 12-2 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at home against Blanche Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
