Amelia Sherrill

Franklin County's Amelia Sherrill goes into her pitching delivery in this file photo from earlier in the season. Sherrill pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and one unearned run allowed for the Rebelettes Friday in their 16-1 win at LaVergne High School.

The Franklin County Rebelettes beat the LaVergne Lady Wolverines 16-1 on the road Friday for their seventh win of the season.

Amelia Sherrill pitched her second no-hitter of the season as the Rebelettes cruised to a blowout victory in their final regular-season contest.

The Rebelettes got off to a fast start as they sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs in the top of the first inning.

The Lady Wolverines capitalized off of an error in the bottom of the second to score their only run of the day and make it a 5-1 game.

The Rebelettes expanded their lead in the middle innings as they pushed across two runs in the third and four runs in the fourth to put the lead at 11-1.

The Rebelettes put the game out of reach in the fifth inning as they added another five runs to their tally. The Lady Wolverines wouldn’t make a dent in the deficit in the bottom half of the fifth with the game ending early via the mercy rule.

Sherrill was dominant on the mound as she retired the last 11 batters she faced to preserve the no-hitter in the complete-game performance. She struck out seven batters in the contest.

With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 7-13 on the season.

They will next play Tuesday at home against Tullahoma High School in a play-in game for their district tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
