The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes 74-65 on the road Friday for their 10th loss of the season.
The Rebelettes trailed for the entirety of the contest, and a late rally came up short as they took another loss in district competition.
The Golden Eaglettes opened the game with a 13-2 run to establish an early advantage.
The Rebelettes trailed 23-14 after one quarter.
The Rebelettes fell further behind in the second quarter as the Golden Eaglettes were completely outpacing them on offense in the first half.
They trailed 47-27 at halftime.
The Rebelettes began to slow down Shelbyville in the third quarter, which allowed them to cut some points off the deficit.
They trailed 56-45 going into the final period.
The Rebelettes went on a 9-0 run late in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit down to just six points in the final minute, but the Golden Eaglettes held their ground to beat Franklin County by nine.
Ashtin Holman led the Rebelettes with 20 points for the game, followed by Macy Pittenger with 10 points and Chyenna Luttrell and Rylan Wolkonowski with eight points each. Holman’s scoring output included a perfect 11-for-11 night at the free-throw line
Heidi Seay scored seven points, Angela Tarrant scored six, and Destiny Russell and Katie Walker scored three points each.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 3-10 on the season and 0-4 in district play.
They will next play Tuesday at home against Lincoln County High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
