The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes 6-0 on the road Monday to be eliminated from their district tournament.

The Rebelettes fell behind in the middle innings after a few errors and were unable to get on the board as their season came to an end.

Franklin County head softball coach Mike Holt said that the errors opened up the door for the Golden Eaglettes to take full control of the contest.

“We gave up six runs, but I don’t think there was an earned run in there,” Holt said. “Obviously, we’ve got to get better on defense. We’ve made too many key errors at the wrong times.”

The Golden Eaglettes scored three runs in the top of the third inning to take the lead early. All three runs were scored with two outs in the frame.

The Golden Eaglettes added a two-run home run in the top of the fifth to increase the deficit to 5-0. They scored one more run in the following inning after an error to put the final lead at six runs.

The Rebelettes were limited to just two hits for the contest as they were unable to find a way to score. Both of the hits for the Rebelettes on the day were recorded by Haley Cash.

With the loss, the Rebelettes finished their season with a record of 7-20.
