The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes 59-38 on the road Saturday in a play-in game for their district tournament.
Most of the final deficit was created in the first half as the Rebelettes were unable to overcome a slow start in the district qualifier.
The Rebelettes were held scoreless in the first quarter as the Golden Eaglettes took an early double-digit lead.
Franklin County trailed 12-0 after one quarter.
The Rebelettes got some points on the board in the second quarter, but the deficit continued to grow.
They trailed 29-9 at halftime.
The Rebelettes played an even game with the Golden Eaglettes in the third quarter and the deficit remained steady. Lucy Barnes scored eight of Franklin County’s 13 points in the third quarter.
They trailed 42-22 going into the final period.
The Rebelettes were unable to make a significant dent in the deficit in the fourth quarter despite hitting four 3-pointers for the period as they took a 21-point loss.
Barnes led the Rebelettes with eight points for the game, followed by Macy Pittenger and Heidi Seay with six points each.
Destiny Russell, Katie Walker and Mikah Brannon scored four points each, and Madisyn Partin and Daryn Morris scored three points each.
With the loss, the Rebelettes ended their season with a record of 3-19.
