The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Lincoln County Lady Falcons 68-65 on the road Tuesday for their third loss of the season.
The Rebelettes led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but the Lady Falcons tied the score late in the fourth quarter and took the lead in the final minute to give them a loss.
The Rebelettes ended the opening period on a 17-9 run to create some early separation on the scoreboard.
They led 25-18 after one quarter.
The Lady Falcons pulled ahead a few times in the second quarter, but the Rebelettes scored the last seven points of the period to retake the lead.
They led 45-41 at halftime.
The Rebelettes also scored seven of the first eight points in the third quarter to briefly take a 10-point lead before the Lady Falcons tightened the score again. Madison King scored six of Franklin County’s nine points in the third quarter.
Franklin County led 54-51 going into the final period.
The Lady Falcons briefly took a 61-60 lead with 3:42 remaining, but Danica Stovall hit a shot shortly afterward to give Franklin County the lead again.
The Lady Falcons hit a 3-pointer to tie the score at 64-64 with 2:22 left on the clock, and they took the lead with 2:02 remaining off of a free throw. Stovall hit a free throw of her own to tie the score once more with 58 seconds to play.
The Lady Falcons pulled ahead for good with two more successful free throws with 21.5 seconds left, and they added one more free throw after a scoreless Franklin County possession to make it a three-point game with 3.7 seconds on the clock.
A half-court shot by Katie Walker at the buzzer fell short as the Rebelettes lost by three.
King led the Rebelettes with 20 points for the game, followed by Walker with 18 points and Stovall with nine.
Na’Kayjah Holman scored eight points, Mikah Brannon scored six and Baylor Russell scored four.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 3-3 on the season.
They will next play Thursday at home against Fayetteville City High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
