The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles 58-40 at home Saturday in a play-in game for their district tournament.
The Rebels were outscored in every quarter as the Golden Eagles steadily pulled away to bring an end to Franklin County’s season.
The Golden Eagles got out to an early lead to set the tone for the rest of the contest. Kane Reed scored five of Franklin County’s seven points in the first quarter.
The Rebels trailed 12-7 after one quarter.
The second quarter played out in nearly identical fashion with the Golden Eagles adding a few more points to their advantage.
The Rebels trailed 24-16 at halftime.
The Rebels had their best offensive output for the day in the third quarter, but it was still not enough to make up any ground.
They trailed 40-29 going into the final period.
The Golden Eagles completely pulled away in the fourth quarter as the Rebels were unable to catch up before taking an 18-point loss. Reed scored nine of Franklin County’s 11 points in the fourth quarter.
Reed led the Rebels with 25 points for the game, followed by Aydan Yates with six points and Kaleb Rigsby with four.
Ke’Andre Johnson scored three points and LT Taylor scored two.
With the loss, the Rebels finished their campaign with a record of 9-11.
