Franklin County High School head football coach Cary “Mac” McCurry has been relieved of his duties after three years at the helm of the Rebels, according to a press release from the school.
FCHS Principal Dr. Roger Alsup released the announcement Monday, adding that he and FCHS Athletic Director Don Rhoton agreed that a change needed to be made with the football program.
“I would like to thank coach McCurry for his hard work and contributions to our football program,” Dr. Alsup said in the press release. “I have tremendous respect for McCurry and his dedication to developing our young men.”
McCurry recorded a cumulative record of 14-16 in his three years with the Rebels. The Rebels did not make the playoffs during his tenure.
Dr. Alsup said the open position will be posted to various sites with no exact timeline on naming a replacement.
Dr. Alsup added that the school would like to have a new coach in place early in the next semester, but that the administration did not want to rush the process.
