The Franklin County Rebels beat the Grundy County Yellowjackets 61-57 on the road Saturday for their ninth win of the season.
The score was very close throughout with the Rebels holding on to win by a slight margin for their second win in as many days.
Both teams opened the contest with their best offensive quarters of the day with the Rebels trailing by a slight margin early.
They trailed 18-17 after one quarter.
The Rebels kept up their offensive momentum in the second quarter to create some separation on the scoreboard. Sumo Scaife scored 10 of Franklin County’s 16 points in the second quarter.
They led 33-27 at halftime.
The teams continued to be very even in terms of offensive output in the third quarter as the Rebels added another point to their lead.
They led 49-42 going into the final period.
The Yellowjackets cut a few points off of the lead in the fourth quarter, but the Rebels were able to stay ahead and win by four.
Scaife led the Rebels with 22 points for the game, followed by Aydan Yates with 12 points and Ke’Andre Johnson with eight.
Kane Reed and Mason Mitchell scored six points each, Devean Shockley scored four and Jamal Blackwell scored three.
With the win, the Rebels improved to 9-12 on the season.
They will next play Tuesday at Coffee County Central High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
