The Franklin County Rebels beat the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles 62-53 at home Friday for their 11th win of the season.
After three close quarters, the Rebels pulled away in the final period to secure a victory in the district matchup.
The opening period saw the lead change hands multiple times with the Rebels facing a slight deficit when the period ended.
They trailed 12-10 after one quarter.
The Rebels started the second quarter with eight straight points to take the lead, and they would hold it through the remainder of the first half.
They led 27-21 at halftime.
However, the Golden Eagles would jump back ahead in the third quarter behind an 11-2 run to start the second half.
Franklin County trailed 37-36 going into the final period.
The Rebels took control of the scoreboard back with a 12-0 run to start the fourth quarter as they closed out the nine-point victory. Debron Russell scored 15 of Franklin County’s 26 points in the fourth quarter.
Russell led the Rebels with 26 points for the game, followed by Kai Baker and Shaimar Lyons with nine points each.
Kaleb Rigsby scored eight points, Taylor Stovall scored six and Ke’Andre Johnson scored four.
With the win, the Rebels improved to 11-7 on the season and 2-0 in district play.
They will next play Tuesday at home against Warren County High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
