The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles 63-57 on the road Friday for their 10th loss of the season.
The Rebels kept the game close with multiple ties coming in the fourth quarter, but the Golden Eagles pulled away in the final moments to give them a loss.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early lead behind four 3-pointers in the opening period.
The Rebels trailed 20-14 after one quarter.
Both offenses slowed down in the second quarter with the deficit for the Rebels growing by a few points. Kane Reed scored seven of Franklin County’s 10 points in the second quarter.
They trailed 33-24 at halftime.
The Rebels began to chip away at the deficit in the third quarter behind a strong defensive effort in the period.
They trailed 42-37 going into the final period.
The Rebels tied the score several times in the fourth quarter, but the Golden Eagles would retake the lead each time. The Rebels ultimately ran out of time as they lost by six.
Sumo Scaife led the Rebels with 22 points for the game, followed by Reed with 20 points and Aydan Yates with eight.
Ke’Andre Johnson scored four points and Devean Shockley scored three.
With the loss, the Rebels moved to 7-10 on the season and 2-2 in district play.
They will next play Tuesday at home against Lincoln County High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
