The North Middle School Gatorettes lost to the Warren County Lady Pioneers 32-21 at home Monday for their fifth loss of the season.
The Gatorettes had difficulty scoring through the first three quarters, and a late rally would come up well short as they took a loss.
The Gatorettes were limited to a single point in the opening quarter as the Lady Pioneers shut down their offense.
The Gatorettes trailed 11-1 after one quarter.
The second quarter would feature a bit more offense from the Gatorettes, but they continued to lose ground on the scoreboard.
They trailed 22-4 at halftime.
The deficit increased to more than 20 points early in the third quarter as the Lady Pioneers held a sizable 30-9 lead going into the final period.
The Gatorettes came alive offensively in the fourth quarter as they more than doubled their point total. However, this would not be enough to avoid an 11-point loss.
Mallory Cunningham led the Gatorettes with nine points for the game, followed by Emma Owens and Lakaiyah Barnes with four points each.
Danica Stovall scored two points, and Judah Hill and Laia Rose scored one point each.
With the loss, the Gatorettes moved to 3-5 on the season.
They will next play Thursday at home against Harris Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
