The Franklin County soccer Rebels opened their season on Thursday and Friday with games for the Smoky Mountain Cup in Gatlinburg as they got a win and a draw to start the event.
The first game of the tournament for the Rebels was on Thursday as they took on the Sevier County Bears.
Neither team would be able to put up a goal in the contest as they settled for a 0-0 draw, granting them one point each in the event’s Mount Guyout division.
The Rebels followed that up by getting their first win of the season on Friday with a 3-1 victory over the Cumberland County Jets.
Rylan Banks scored twice for the Rebels as he netted the first two goals of his high school career. Camden Eslick added a goal of his own to round out the scoring for Franklin County.
With the win and the draw, the Rebels opened their season with a record of 1-0-1.
They will next play Saturday against White House Heritage High School in their final game for the Smoky Mountain Cup. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Eastern.
