Samuel Tarlton has been announced as the new head coach of the Franklin County High School boys basketball program, according to a press release sent out by FCHS Principal Dr. Roger Alsup Wednesday.
Tarlton had been the head coach of the North Greene High School boys basketball program since 2017, where he compiled a record of 107-36.
Tarlton led the North Greene Huskies to three district championships, two regional championships and two state tournament appearances in his time at the helm with his team making it to the semifinals of the state bracket in 2018 and 2021.
“We are extremely excited to bring Sam to Franklin County,” Dr. Alsup said. “As you can see from his resume, Sam is a proven winner, and I know he will win at Franklin County High School.”
Tarlton was a four-year letterman in baseball and basketball at David Crockett High School in Jonesborough. He went on to play baseball at Milligan University and was later hired as an assistant baseball coach at Milligan in 2015 before returning to basketball at North Greene a few years later.
A press conference to officially introduce Tarlton along with new FCHS softball coach Kelly Kennedy will be held Thursday in the FCHS front lobby. Kennedy will be introduced at 1 p.m. with Tarlton following at 1:30 p.m.
