Franklin County's John Barnhill prepares to deliver a backhand shot in this file photo from the 2020 season. Barnhill got an 8-1 win in singles action and a 6-2 victory in a doubles match while teaming with Paul McRae Monday for the Rebels in their 5-0 win at Giles County High School.

The Franklin County High School boys and girls tennis teams competed in a match Monday at Giles County High School with both teams picking up victories.

The Rebels got a clean sweep with a 5-0 victory over the Giles County Bobcats in the boys match.

John Barnhill had the most decisive victory for the Rebels as he beat his opponent for the day by a score of 8-1. Paul McRae and Xander Brammer also got wins in singles competition by scores of 8-3 and 8-6, respectively.

In the doubles matches, the team of Om Patel and Amare Perkins won its match by a score of 8-6 while the duo of Barnhill and McRae picked up a 6-2 victory to finish the sweep.

On the girls side, the Rebelettes picked up a 4-2 win for their second victory of the season.

Chloe Daugherty and Audrey Everson both got shutout victories by scores of 8-0, and Hunny Patel beat her opponent by a margin of 8-2 to add to Franklin County’s success.

Leanna Hobbs took the lone singles loss for Franklin County as she lost her match by a score of 8-1.

The team of Patel and Demi Champion clinched a win for the Rebelettes with an 8-1 win in doubles action while Olivia Edwards and Emma Brandon took an 8-2 loss in the other doubles matchup.

With the wins, the Rebels improved to 1-1 on the season and the Rebelettes moved to 2-0 for the year.

The Rebels and Rebelettes will next play Tuesday at Marshall County High School. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
