The South Middle School Trojans lost to the White County Warriors 35-31 at home Thursday for their fifth loss of the season.

The Trojans kept the game close all day, but they were not able to take the lead at any point as they remained winless on the year.

The Trojans got off to a slow start on offense as they faced an early deficit in the contest.

They trailed 10-4 after one quarter.

The Trojans closed out the first half on a 9-3 run to tie the score up. The rally was punctuated by a 3-pointer from Ayden Tate in the final seconds of the second quarter.

The game was tied at 17-17 at halftime.

The Trojans continued to keep the score close, but the Warriors took a narrow 28-25 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Trojans remained one or two possessions behind for the remainder of the matchup as they lost by four.

Kai Baker led the Trojans with nine points for the game, followed by Ethan Farris with eight points and Aydin Horton with five.

Lane Pearson scored four points, Tate scored three and Kenyon Fuqua scored two.

With the loss, the Trojans moved to 0-5 on the season.

They will next play Monday at Warren County Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
