The South Middle School Trojans lost to the Harris Eagles 42-26 at home Thursday for their sixth loss of the season.

The Trojans fell into a double-digit hole in the first half and were not able to work out of it after halftime as they took their third straight loss.

The Trojans opened the game with their best offensive period, but the Eagles would end the first quarter on top by a score of 14-9.

The Eagles doubled their lead in the second quarter as the Trojans were not able to get their offense going.

South trailed 25-14 at halftime.

The deficit continued to grow in the third quarter with the Trojans facing a 35-20 deficit going into the final period. Brandon Walker scored four of South’s six points in the third quarter.

The Trojans were not able to make up any ground in the fourth quarter as they lost by a final margin of 16 points.

Josiah Cullins and Walker led the Trojans with eight points each for the game, followed by Brody Goff with six points and Daniel Woods and Miller Crabtree with two points each.

With the loss, the Trojans moved to 1-6 on the season.

They will next play Monday at Warren County Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
