The South Middle School Trojans lost to the Harris Eagles 48-8 at home Thursday for their fifth loss of the season.

The Trojans got their lone touchdown in the opening period with the rest of the contest being controlled by the Eagles.

South head football coach Keith Riddle said his team continued to play hard and fight admirably throughout the contest.

“Our kids played a hard football game and fought hard until the end,” he said. “They have had a very tough season, but they don’t quit and they give every of fight that they have.”

The lone score for the Trojans came on a 14-yard run by Isaiah Warren in the first quarter. Warren also carried the ball into the end zone on the ensuing two-point conversion.

The Eagles got off to a fast start with four touchdowns in the first half to put the Trojans in an early hole.

South trailed 28-8 at halftime.

The Eagles would continue to pull away in the second half as the Trojans lost by 40 points.

With the loss, the Trojans moved to 0-5 on the season.

They will next play Thursday against North Middle School. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
