The South Middle School Trojans lost to the East Panthers 60-37 at home Thursday for their seventh loss of the season.

The result came down to the first and last quarters as the Panthers dominated those periods to keep the Trojans winless.

The Trojans had just one made shot in the opening quarter as they quickly found themselves trailing by double digits.

They trailed 15-3 after one quarter.

The Trojans got their offense going in the second quarter as they were able to slightly cut into the deficit before the end of the half.

They trailed 27-17 at halftime.

The teams were completely even in the third quarter as the deficit remained at 10 points by the end of the period.

The Trojans trailed 39-29 going into the final quarter.

However, the Panthers completely pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Trojans 21-8 as South took a loss by 23 points.

Kai Baker and Lane Pearson led the Trojans with eight points each for the game, followed by Kenyon Fuqua and Ethan Farris with seven points each.

Caydon Bradford, Aydin Horton and Samuel Vincent scored two points each, and Tyson Kennerly scored one point.

With the loss, the Trojans moved to 0-7 on the season.

They will next play Monday at Harris Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
