Gatorettes fall at West behind slow offensive start

The North Middle School Gatorettes lost to the West Lady Bobcats 39-21 on the road Thursday for their third loss of the season.
The Gatorettes got off to a slow start on offense and weren’t able to fully bounce back in the second half as their record for the season moved below .500.
North’s Shekinah Miller hit a layup for the first points of the day for either team, but the Gatorettes weren’t able to score again for the rest of the opening period.
They trailed 10-2 after one quarter.
The Gatorettes were limited to just three points in the second quarter as the Lady Bobcats brought the early lead up to double digits.
North trailed 20-5 at halftime.
The Gatorettes scored the first five points of the third quarter, but the Lady Bobcats proceeded to end the period on an 11-1 run to bring the deficit to a new high of 20 points.
North trailed 31-11 going into the final period.
The Gatorettes only made up a small amount of ground in the fourth quarter despite nearly doubling their point total for the day as they lost by 18.
Miller led the Gatorettes with five points for the game, followed by Vivian Baggett, Airiana Hill and Shayla Burnette with four points each.
Macie Davis and Allie Burnette scored two points each.
With the loss, the Gatorettes moved to 2-3 on the season.
They will next play Monday at Coffee County Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
