Trojans pick up blowout home win versus WCA

The South Middle School Trojans beat the Winchester Christian Academy Lions 46-20 at home Monday for their third win of the season.

The Trojans took a double-digit lead early in the contest and turned the game into a blowout after halftime to bring their overall record for the season above .500.

The Trojans got off to a strong start on offense as they built up a decent early lead against the Lions.

South led 10-4 after one quarter.

The Trojans remained in control throughout the second quarter as they were able to push their early advantage up to double digits.

They led 24-10 at halftime.

The Trojans continued to add to their advantage in the third quarter as they took a 34-16 lead into the final period.

The deficit was pushed up to more than 20 points in the fourth quarter with the Trojans getting the victory by a final margin of 26.

Kaveon Sutton led the Trojans with 10 points for the game, followed by Levi Lindsey and William Money with seven points each.

Cameron Denton scored six points, Bentley Baldwin, LA Fitzgerald and Brennan Taylor scored four points each, and Jacoba Fells and Eli Ragland scored two points each.

With the win, the Trojans improved to 3-2 on the season.

They will next play Thursday at home against Coffee County Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
