Gators drop home matchup to Harris
S
The North Middle School Gators lost to the Harris Eagles 32-24 at home Monday for their third loss of the season.
The Gators got off to a slow start on offense to fall behind by a decent amount early, and a more even second half wouldn’t be enough to get them fully back in the game.
The Eagles held an early edge in the contest as the Gators found themselves trailing 9-5 when the opening period came to an end.
The second quarter would play out in a similar fashion as the Gators lost a little more ground on the scoreboard.
They trailed 18-9 at halftime.
The Gators nearly doubled their point total in the third quarter, but it wouldn’t be enough to prevent the Eagles from taking a double-digit lead into the final period.
North trailed 27-17 after three quarters.
The Gators were able to erase some of the deficit in the fourth quarter, but the lead for Harris still remained steady overall as North lost by eight points. Colson Kelley scored five of North’s seven points in the fourth quarter.
Da’Zavion Taylor led the Gators with eight points for the game, followed by Kelley with seven points and Connor Parker with four.
Conner Worley scored three points and Grant Parkerson scored two.
With the loss, the Gators moved to 1-3 on the season.
They will next play Thursday at West Middle School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
