STLS gets in fall spirit for October meeting

For their October meeting, members of the Southern Tennessee Ladies’ Society donned their favorite fall attire along with fall jewelry and decorations to match in an effort to usher in the fun and folly of Halloween.

Members boosted the excitement by dancing and singing along to the Halloween song “Monster Mash” in anticipation of hearing local folklore and ghost stores from their guest speaker, Stanley Bean, retired educator and host of the famous Winchester Historic Ghost Tours. The meeting was held at the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Oct. 9.

Meeting discussions included plans for their upcoming Holiday Market scholarship fundraiser set for Nov. 3-4 at the Franklin County Annex in Winchester. Admission will be free to shop from a wide variety of craft vendors, artists and more.

Delicious, homemade baked goodies will be available to purchase just in time to stock up and freeze for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also available will be hot soups and other delicious treats and desserts to eat while spending the day at the market.

Market hours on Nov. 3 will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and hours on Nov. 4 will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Southern Tennessee Ladies’ Society’s goal is to promote social fun and fellowship and provide educational scholarships.
