Halloween display
The Brockman Dancing Lights drive-thru Halloween display is ready for viewing at 1826 Dabbs Ford Road in Decherd. Hours are Sunday through Thursday from dark until 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from dark until 11 p.m. Tune in to 100.1. Visit the Brockman Dancing Lights Facebook page for updates.

AngelFest Celebration
The Sewanee Business Alliance and the University of the South welcome everyone to their AngelFest Celebration on Friday at Angel Park in Sewanee to welcome the University’s new vice chancellor, Rob Pearigen. Children’s activities begin at 5 p.m. followed by a performance by the band Entice at 7 p.m. Food trucks will offer a wide selection of cuisine. University Avenue will be temporarily closed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees. Shuttle services will be offered.
Fall festival
A fall festival will be held at Decherd Elementary School on Friday starting at 6 p.m.
Run for Special Olympics
Local law enforcement agencies will participate in the Run for Special Olympics on Friday at Franklin County High School stadium at 1:30 p.m.

FCHS reunion

Turkey Trot
The Hospice 5K Turkey Trot and One-Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday at Tims Ford State Park. Check in at 7:30 a.m. at the visitor center.

The Franklin County Democratic Party invites everyone to an Octoberfest potluck Sunday starting at 2:30 p.m. at Pavilion No. 3 in Winchester City Park.

A free childbirth class for expecting parents will be given on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Southern Tennessee Employee Development Center, 1397 South College Street, Winchester.

Blood drive
A Red Cross blood drive will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tennessee College of Applied Technology Franklin County, 925 Dinah Shore Boulevard., Winchester.

Fright Night
Arnold Services invites everyone to Fright Night on Oct. 27 from 5-9 p.m. at the Arnold AFB Golf Course. Enjoy food trucks from 5-8 p.m. Trunk or treat starts at 5:30 p.m. An adult and kids costume contest and pumpkin-carving contest starts at 8 p.m. Bring your own pumpkin.

Chili cook-off
Winchester Christian Academy will host a chili cook-off tasting and fundraiser on Oct. 28 from 1-4 p.m. at 1230 South College Street, Winchester.
Rocktober
Everyone is invited to Rocktober, a police-benefit concert and side-by-side show, on Oct. 28 from 6-10 p.m. at Monterey Station, 104 Monterey Mills Street in Cowan. Concert admission is $20 for general admission, $15 for students and $10 for children younger than 10 years.

The UDC Kirby-Smith Chapter 327 Sewanee will meet on Oct. 28 at 11:15 a.m. at the Oak Restaurant in Manchester.
Fish fry
The Belvidere Firemen’s fish fry will be held on Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Belvidere Community Center, 349 Belvidere Road in Belvidere. Enjoy live bluegrass music. Enjoy all you can eat fish, barbecue chicken, chicken strips, homemade desserts and sides. Cost is $15 for adults, $5 for ages 4-12 and free for children younger than 4. A tractor pull will be held free at the same location starting at noon.
Trail of Tears walk
A Trail of Tears Commemorative Walk will be held on Oct. 28 starting at 11:30 a.m. at Old Cowan Road Park, 200 Wilson Street in Winchester. The 0.8 mile-walk ends at Franklin County Library at 12:30 p.m. with demonstrations and presentations through 4 p.m. Cherokee storyteller Bo Tayler will share stories at 1:30 p.m. The library will be open extended hours.
Botanical art
Everyone is invited to produce a botanically-correct painting of a leaf by transferring a rubbing of it to watercolor paper. Materials will be provided for this free activity which is suited for all ages. Meet in Spencer Hall, Room 171 at the University of the South in Sewanee.
Chili cook-off

Bonfire night
The Franklin County Republican Party will hold its annual bonfire night honoring Congressman Scott DesJarlais on Nov. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Davis farm located at 804 South Main St. in Estill Springs. Enjoy music, barbecue dinner, speeches and more. This event is free to the public. Donations will be appreciated.

Goes Hollywood
Everyone is invited to dress as a favorite movie character and join in for a star-studded fundraising night, “Animal Harbor Goes Hollywood,” on Nov. 4 from 6-9 p.m. at Monterey Station in Cowan. Activities include an exclusive cigar-and-whiskey porch, red-carpet photos, DJ music through the decades, Swing-dance demonstrations and fancy food stations. Cost is $65 each, $85 with a T-shirt, $130 for couples or $170 for couples and two T-shirts. VIP tables are $550 for eight tickets and a VIP experience. Proceeds go to Animal Harbor’s mission.
SBCO charitable event
The Sportsmen and Businessmen’s Charitable Organization will host its annual charitable event on Nov. 4 from 5:30-10 p.m. at the Manchester Coffee County Conference Center.
