Middle school Lady Hornets take road loss to Webb

S

The Huntland Middle School Lady Hornets lost to the Webb School Feet 9-0 on the road Monday for their third loss of the season.

The Feet scored early and often against a Huntland team missing several players with the game ending about 12 minutes early due to the mercy rule.

The Feet scored four goals in the first half and kept the ball on Huntland’s side of the field for a majority of the period. Huntland Middle head soccer coach Shaun Mason said his team played well to only give up the four scores they did before halftime.

The Lady Hornets trailed 4-0 at the end of the first half.

Mason said that he made some positional adjustments with his team in an attempt to get some offensive momentum, but it made Huntland’s defense vulnerable in the process.

The Feet continued to add to their total in the second half and got the ninth and final goal they needed with about 12 minutes to go to officially wrap up the loss for the Lady Hornets.

With the loss, the Lady Hornets moved to 3-3-1 on the season.

They will next play Monday in their district tournament. A start time, opponent and location for the game had not been confirmed at the time of writing.
