Rebelettes outlast Tullahoma for five-set district win

The Franklin County Rebelettes beat the Tullahoma Lady Wildcats in five sets at home Tuesday for their third win of the season.
The Rebelettes won the first two sets, lost the next two and came back to win the tiebreaking fifth frame to secure a victory in the district contest.
The Rebelettes never trailed in the opening set as they held onto a small lead throughout before grabbing a 25-23 victory in the frame to take an early lead on the overall scoreboard.
The Rebelettes opened the second set on a 15-4 run and cruised from there to a 25-11 win in the frame to take a 2-0 lead overall.
The Lady Wildcats jumped out to an early lead in the third set and maintained a steady edge for a 25-18 victory in the frame to extend the match.
The Rebelettes were held to just eight points in the fourth set with the Lady Wildcats picking up a decisive 25-8 win in the frame to tie the overall score at 2-2.
Momentum remained in Tullahoma’s favor to start the first-to-15 fifth set with the Rebelettes finding themselves trailing 12-8 late in the game.
However, the Rebelettes then scored five straight points to take the lead for the first time in the frame.
The Lady Wildcats scored the next point to tie the score at 13-13, but the Rebelettes then scored the last two points they needed for a 15-13 set victory to clinch an overall win for the day.
With the win, the Rebelettes improved to 3-6 on the season and 2-5 in district play.
They will next play Thursday at home against Lawrence County High School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
