Lady Hornets fall to Lincoln County in road contest

The Huntland High School Lady Hornets lost to the Lincoln County Lady Falcons 5-0 on the road Thursday for their first loss of the season.

The Lady Hornets fell behind early and were not able to bounce back as they were shut out for the first time this season.

Huntland head soccer coach Amanda Tipps said that her team played hard but wasn’t able to capitalize on the available scoring opportunities.

Tipps added that the Lady Falcons are a good team and playing a team like them will make the Lady Hornets better as the season goes on.

The Lady Falcons scored three goals in the first half to put the Lady Hornets in a decent hole early.

Another two goals from Lincoln County after the halftime break put the game out of reach as the Lady Hornets lost by five.

With the loss, the Lady Hornets moved to 4-1 on the season.

They will next play Monday at Forrest High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
