Rebelettes swept by Columbia in road district match

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Columbia Central Lady Lions in straight sets on the road Tuesday for their 17th loss of the season.

The Rebelettes were held to less than 20 points in each set as they took a decisive loss in the district contest.

The Rebelettes had a run of six straight points midway through the opening set to take an 18-17 lead, but the Lady Lions proceeded to answer back with eight consecutive points to take a 25-18 win in the frame.

The Lady Lions continued their run by scoring the first six points of the second set to immediately put the Rebelettes in a decent hole.

The deficit continued to grow as the set went on with the Rebelettes taking a 25-13 defeat in the frame to fall behind by a 2-0 margin on the overall scoreboard.

The Lady Lions opened the third set with a 12-2 run, and the Rebelettes weren’t able to make up any ground the rest of the way as a 25-12 loss for the frame sealed the sweep.

With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 5-17 on the season and 3-10 in district play.

They will next play Wednesday at home against Grundy County High School. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
