Rebelettes swept by Lawrence County for home district loss

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Lawrence County Lady Wildcats in straight sets at home Thursday for their seventh loss of the season.
The Lady Wildcats took control of each set with lengthy scoring runs as the Rebelettes were not able to keep pace in the district loss.
The Lady Wildcats held an early lead in the opening set with a run of eight straight points midway through the frame giving them a 16-6 edge.
The Rebelettes cut the deficit down to as low as five points later in the set before ultimately taking a 25-17 loss to open the match.
The Rebelettes had their own 8-0 run in the second set which gave them a 16-12 lead at the midway point of the frame.
They still held a 20-16 lead later in the frame, but the Lady Wildcats then went on a 9-1 run to flip the scoreboard and give Franklin County a 25-21 loss in the set that put the overall score at 2-0.
The Rebelettes trailed for the entire third set with the Lady Wildcats ending the game on an 8-1 run for a 25-15 set victory to conclude the match.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 3-7 on the season and 2-6 in district play.
They will next play Tuesday at Coffee County Central High School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
