Cowan Fall Heritage Festival to celebrate 10-year anniversary

The much-anticipated Fall Heritage Festival will once again fill the streets of Cowan Friday through Sunday, celebrating the event’s 10-year anniversary. 

The festival fun begins Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and resumes Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fireworks will be at 9 pm on both Friday and Saturday.

Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The festival is free to the public and made possible by the generous donations from local and regional businesses and individuals.

The festival will feature music, exhibits, kids activities, fireworks and more than 160 vendor booths showcasing a wide variety of arts and crafts and food.

Exhibits will include the Werner Military Museum display, an antique engines  and tractors show, chainsaw-carving, a display from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and much more.

Exile will be headlining the Main Stage on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Exile has 11 No. 1 hits, three gold albums and 8 million records sold worldwide.  Exile will be bringing its “A Million Miles Later Tour” celebrating 60 years of music.

The tour will highlight the band’s hits like “Kiss You All Over,” “Woke Up In Love” “Give Me One More Chance”  “I Can’t Get Enough” and “Super Love” as well as new songs from the just-released album “A Million Miles Later.”

“The free community-driven event celebrates the region’s traditions and history as well as showcasing the talents, creativity and diversity of its residents.” Maryann Knowles, festival administrator, said.

Committee Chairperson Mark Ledbetter added: “There is truly something for everyone at the Fall Heritage Festival. We have worked hard and watched this festival grow year after year and now we celebrate the ten-year anniversary!” 

The event will kick off on Friday night with opening ceremonies at 5 p.m. followed by music on two stages beginning at 5:30 p.m. with The Nouns on the Tennessee Avenue stage and Somethin’ Else on the Front Street stage. 

Local favorite Alison McCormick will take the Main Stage at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks will close the first day of the festival at 9 p.m.

A fun part of the festival is the off-road-vehicle parade which will be starting Saturday at 1 p.m. at South Middle School before rolling down Cumberland Street for all to see.

Saturday night entertainment will feature Exile on the Main Stage. The  stage on Tennessee Avenue will host the CenterStage Dance Company, Chris Sanders, Blue Twang, Macy Tabor and Lee Gibson. Let’s Make a Note and SHINE will be on the Front Street stage.

Sunday musical performances will feature DJ Ryan, The Hand Family, The Sims Family and Final Crossing.
