Rebelettes fall to district foe Columbia in four sets

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Columbia Central Lady Lions in four sets at home Thursday for their sixth loss of the season.

The Rebelettes won a close first set before dropping the next three in a row to take a loss in the district matchup.

The Rebelettes held a small advantage throughout most of the opening set with their advantage for the frame peaking at 23-16 late.

The Lady Lions then scored six straight points to tighten the score, but the Rebelettes got the last two points they needed from there for a 25-22 victory in the set.

The second set would be relatively close throughout with the Lady Lions creating some separation late for a 25-19 victory to tie the overall score at 1-1.

The Lady Lions then dominated in the third set, handing the Rebelettes a decisive 25-7 defeat to put Franklin County behind by a score of 2-1.

The Rebelettes kept pace with Columbia through the first half of the fourth set with the score being tied at 14-14 midway through the frame. However, the Lady Lions then went on an 11-4 run to beat the Rebelettes by a score of 25-18 in the set as Franklin County lost the overall match by a score of 3-1.

With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 2-6 on the season and 1-5 in district play.

They will next play Tuesday at home against Tullahoma High School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
