Middle school Lady Hornets fall to Liberty in district tourney
The Huntland Middle School Lady Hornets lost to the Liberty Lady Patriots 7-1 on the road Monday in a quarterfinal game for their district tournament.
The Lady Hornets fell behind early with the Lady Patriots fully pulling away in the second half to eliminate Huntland from the bracket.
The Lady Patriots scored a trio of goals in the first half to put the Lady Hornets in a decent hole early.
The Lady Hornets were able to get on the board before halftime with Naomi Morris providing the score for her third goal of the season.
They trailed 3-1 at halftime.
The Lady Hornets were held without a shot on the goal for the entire second half while the Lady Patriots scored four more times in the period to put the final deficit at six.
With the loss, the Lady Hornets finished their season with a record of 3-4-1.
