Rebelettes take trio of losses for week

The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Lincoln County Lady Falcons in straight sets at home Thursday for their 10th loss of the season.
The Rebelettes averaged just 10 points per set as they took decisive losses in each frame to record their third loss in as many days.
The Rebelettes held an early 6-4 lead in the opening set before the Lady Falcons went on a 17-1 run which included 15 consecutive points to take control. The Lady Falcons would ultimately win the first set by a score of 25-9.
The Lady Falcons were in complete control for most of the second set as they had multiple runs of six points or more to steadily pull away for a 25-10 victory in the frame that put the Rebelettes behind by an overall score of 2-0.
The Rebelettes were within striking distance through the midway point of the third set as they trailed by a 14-10 margin, but a streak of nine consecutive points by the Lady Falcons put them in a hole that they couldn’t work out of with Lincoln County winning the frame by a score of 25-11 to end the match.
Ann Abbott Devine had one ace, one kill three assists and 10 digs for the match.
Madyson Dutz recorded nine digs for the day, and Madisan Redmon had three kills and two blocks.
Ava Yates and Hadley Gardner each had one kill and nine digs for the day. Emma Smoot had one assist, two blocks and five digs.
Natalie Hagood had one ace and eight digs, Adley Smith had two digs and Mackenzie Arnold had one kill and one block.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 3-10 on the season and 2-8 in district play.
St. Andrew’s-Sewanee 3, Rebelettes 1
The Rebelettes lost to the St. Andrew’s-Sewanee Lady Mountain Lions in four sets on the road Wednesday for their ninth loss of the season.
The Rebelettes lost the first two sets of the day and weren’t able to rally back as they took a loss for the day.
The Lady Mountain Lions never trailed in the opening set and went on to win the frame by a score of 25-17 to take an early advantage in the match.
The second set played out in similar fashion to the first as the Lady Mountain Lions never trailed, held a 16-8 lead at the frame’s midway point and remained comfortably ahead for a 25-19 win to take a 2-0 lead in the contest overall.
The Rebelettes found themselves trailing 15-13 at the midway point of the third set before scoring eight straight points to pull ahead by a 21-15 margin.
They went on to win the set by a score of 25-18 to avoid a sweep and put the overall score for the match at 2-1.
The score was kept close for most of the fourth set until the Lady Mountain Lions scored eight straight points to take a 20-14 lead late in the frame.
The Rebelettes weren’t able to bounce back from there as they took a 25-16 loss for the set to end the match.
Redmon had five aces, five kills, seven blocks and three digs for the match.
Devine had three aces, seven kills, three assists and eight digs.
Smoot recorded two aces, one kill, two blocks and seven digs. Smith had five assists and seven digs.
Dutz was a key contributor on defense with 22 digs for the day as well as one ace and one kill.
Gardner had four aces, one kill and six digs, Yates had two kills and seven digs, Brianna Wilkinson had two kills and three blocks and Arnold had three digs.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 3-9 on the season.
Coffee County 3, Rebelettes 1
The Rebelettes lost to the Coffee County Lady Raiders in four sets on the road Tuesday for their eighth loss of the season.
The Rebelettes took close losses in the first, second and fourth sets for the day to seal the loss in district play.
The Rebelettes took an early lead in the opening set and held a 21-16 edge late in the frame. However, the Lady Raiders then went on a 9-2 run to flip the scoreboard and give Franklin County a 25-23 loss to start the day.
The Rebelettes found themselves trailing by a 22-17 margin late in the second set before scoring five straight to tie the score, but the Lady Raiders answered back by scoring three straight points for a 25-22 set victory as the Rebelettes fell behind by a 2-0 margin overall.
The most lopsided set of the day was also the only one to go Franklin County’s way as a run of nine straight points midway through the frame gave the Rebelettes a 21-9 advantage.
They were able to cruise to a 25-15 victory in the frame from there to put the overall score for the match at 2-1.
The teams traded the lead a few times in the fourth set with the Rebelettes holding onto a slight 17-16 lead late in the frame.
However, a 9-3 run by the Lady Raiders gave them the points they needed to win the set by a score of 25-20 and finish off the match with the Rebelettes losing by a score of 3-1 overall.
Redmon ended the match with four aces, nine kills, three blocks and two digs.
Devine recorded one ace, three kills, seven assists and five digs.
Gardner notched two aces, two kills and 11 digs for the day, and Hagood had one kill, one assist and 17 digs.
Smoot had seven kills and six digs while Smith had seven assists and five digs and Dutz recorded four aces and seven digs.
Other contributors for the Rebelettes and their stats for the day included Yates with one kill and seven digs, Arnold with one assist and one dig and Wilkinson with two kills.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 3-8 on the season and 2-7 in district play.
They will next play Saturday in the Dream for Weave Southern Slam tournament in Manchester. Their first game of the day is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Coffee County Middle School.
