Rebelettes swept by Lawrence County in district match

The Franklin County volleyball Rebelettes lost to the Lawrence County Lady Wildcats in straight sets on the road Tuesday for their second loss of the season.
The Rebelettes lost the first two sets in decisive fashion with a close third set also going Lawrence County’s way to secure the sweep.
The first set would be the most lopsided of the day as the Lady Wildcats ended the frame on a 13-4 run for an overall 25-12 victory to open the match.
The second set would have a similar result to the first but with a flipped pattern as the Lady Wildcats opened up an 18-7 lead to start the frame and maintained a steady advantage the rest of the way for a 25-14 victory to put the Rebelettes in a 2-0 hole.
The Rebelettes got off to a strong start in the third set as they traded points with the Lady Wildcats early and held a 19-16 lead late in the frame.
However, the Lady Wildcats scored nine of the set’s final 11 points to rally past Franklin County and give the Rebelettes a 25-21 loss in the frame to end the match.
Ann Abbott Devine recorded three aces, one kill, 11 assists, one block and eight digs in the match.
Adley Smith had 14 assists, one block and seven digs. Madisan Redmon notched seven kills, one assist, three blocks and one dig.
Jessie Schnarr ended the contest with two aces, two kills, three assists, two blocks and seven digs, Hadley Gardner had one ace, one kill and 10 digs, and libero Natalie Hagood recorded 12 digs for the day.
Other contributors for the Rebelettes included Emma Smoot with two kills, three blocks and two digs, Ava Yates with four digs and Madyson Dutz with one assist and one dig.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in district play.
They will next play Thursday at home against Coffee County Central High School. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
