STLS opening theme: “Let’s have S’more Fun!”
The theme for the 14th anniversary of the Southern Tennessee Ladies’ Society’s opening meeting held this month was “Let’s Have S’more Fun.”
President Margaret Ann Thomas opened the meeting with some s’more jokes, welcomed all the ladies to the new location, Cumberland Presbyterian Church on North High Street in Winchester, and announced the new meeting date, the first Monday of the month.
Tables were decorated with balloons tied to a filled gift bag. Each lady received a bag with the makings for s’mores.
Lucy Smith reads the minutes from the May meeting, and Debra Mahler told the gathering about the most enjoyable trip that 20 STLS members made to see The Temptations in concert in Huntsville, Alabama.
C&S Railroad band members Chad Orange and Steve Winstead entertained with music and songs.
Orange, who is the owner of the Orange Blossom General Store on Lynchburg Highway, started off with an original song he wrote called, “Winchester, Tennessee.” The performance brought on a thunderous applause.
Ladies were treated to a delicious meal catered by Jackie Puryear.
The Southern Tennessee Ladies’ Society’s goal is to promote social fun and fellowship and provide educational scholarships. For more information, visit facebook.com/SouthernTnLadiesSociety.
The next meeting will be held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church on the second Monday in September, which is Sept. 11, due to the Labor Day holiday being on the first Monday.
The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. For reservations, call Tina at 931-967-4813 or email reply2stls@att.net. All ladies are welcome.
