Cowan working toward special RV show

Cowan is working toward having a special recreational-vehicle show fundraiser, featuring side by sides with the format mirroring a car show.
Natalie Garner, who owns The Sole Shop, a Cowan business, addressed the City Council on July 11 about taking steps to have the event, potentially on Oct. 6-7, and calling it “Rocktober.”
“I think it would be a fun event,” she told the council. “I think it would bring a lot of people to Cowan.”
City Councilman Anthony Ingle said it might take some time for Rocktober to become a large drawing card, but it would probably happen.
“It might not be that big the first year,” he said, adding that he thinks it could grow as an annual event.
Garner said the proceeds could go to a worthy cause the city deems appropriate.
Board members referred to a potential community playground such as the BlueCross Healthy Place at Huntland City Park, developed in 2019 in a partnership between Huntland and the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation.
The playground was provided through a matching-grant process, and council members agreed the Rocktober proceeds could go toward something along those lines.
