Legion to host model-train show Saturday
American Legion Post 44 will sponsor its first model-train show in Franklin County on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Legion Hall, 110 N. Vine St., Winchester.
The event will feature a swap-and-shop-type of train show with vendors coming from Nashville, Chattanooga, Huntsville, Alabama, Crossville and other surrounding towns.
Post 44 Commander Ray Cobb said it should be an enjoyable event.
“These train shows are a lot of fun for all ages,” he said.
There will be modern trains, postwar trains and maybe trains dated as far back as the 1930s.
“This is a great time to see many modern trains dating back over the years that you may have played with at one time,” Cobb said.
One vendor will be bringing train memorabilia, such as plate settings and menus from passenger trains, along with old train lanterns.
A food truck will be on site for lunch and snacks.
The Legion will also be taking requests for flags and crosses. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Donations to the Legion are welcome.
