The Franklin County Middle Rebels lost to the Tullahoma Wildcats 3-1 on the road Saturday in the Central Tennessee Conference championship game.
The Rebels fell behind early in the contest and weren’t able to rally back in the second half as they ended the year as the conference runners-up.
The Wildcats scored their first goal about seven minutes into the game as they snuck a shot into the net on a breakaway to put the early score at 1-0.
The next goal for Tullahoma came with just 15 seconds remaining in the first half as the Wildcats were awarded a free kick at midfield, and their kicker fired a shot directly into the net from there to double the deficit just before halftime.
The Rebels trailed 2-0 at the end of the first half.
The Wildcats added one more goal with 10:34 remaining as they scored off of another free kick to put the Rebels in a deep hole late.
The Rebels got on the board with about six minutes to go as Jonathan Bustamante took a long free kick which deflected off of a Tullahoma defender and into the net for his first goal of the season.
The Rebels made several more attacks on the goal in the final minutes, but they weren’t able to break through for another score as they lost by two.
Following the conclusion of the game, Nick Vega, Weber Bradford, Mason Woodall, Joshua Gomez and Edber Perez were named to the all-conference team for the season.
With the loss, the Rebels finished their season with a record of 8-3-2.
